Weekend Finish

This weekend I finished a project for my friend Beth's birthday. It is one of my all time favorite projects. It came out exactly how I wanted!!! I knew I wanted to make Beth something and when looking for ideas I found this post. I have been on an embroidery kick and so this was perfect. It took me a week to complete and I was done to the wire trying to get it done in time. But I did and I love it.

The pattern is called 12 Things God Wants You to Remember but the blogger who posted had only designed three of the blocks so far. You can find her blog here. She is using a month theme so these are from Jan, Feb, and March. I can't wait for her to post more-it would be great in my sewing room.
Here are the blocks close up:

And here is the back. The white square is a label with the name and when it was made.

So what do you do with it? Good question-anything you want!

Enjoy!

  2. When I learned to sew I had the good luck of a mom who was a Home Economics teacher. My guess is that you didn't even have home economics when you were in school... I am so happy to see young women like you diving in and learning a difficult task, and encouraging others to try it with you. I love your projects. Here is the best tip my Home Ec teacher and mom told me... Sew a seam then Press the seam! Keep up the good work and continue the tradition.

  3. You're right-my school did not have a Home Ed class. I just decided I wanted to sew a purse one day when I was in college. Growing up we had a sewing machine at our house-my mom made curtains and could do some alterations on our clothes. I've always loved crafts, I've jumped from crocheting to knitting to crosstitch to scrapbooking but sewing is something that I think I will stick with.

  4. Laura this is beautiful! I love it so much! It really makes me want to start working on my quilting skills again. I can't thank you enough for sharing it with me!
