Giveaway Day is Here!

And the winner is.......#29

  1. My favorite teacher was my 10th grade english teacher. She was kind and funny, but not afraid to tell the truth about the world. I learned a lot from her!
I've sent an email so be on the lookout. I loved hearing all your teacher stories-it just warms my heart!

My first year to be a part of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

I had big plans for the project I was going to make but as often happens life got in the way. Instead I have for you a layer cake of Modern Workshop with some yardage. Now you can make whatever project you want.

To win leave me a comment and I will choose a winner randomly. As a teacher I get curious as to how my students view me. So in your comment tell me your favorite teacher and what you loved most about them.

The giveaway will stay open until May 25 at 5 pm.  I will update this post to include the winner. I will be shipping to U.S. only.

While you are here stay and look around. I hope you come back for more. This summer I have big plans for sewing and nothing else on my calendar. To me that is the best summer vacation I could ask for.

To find more lovely giveaways head back to Sew Mama Sew and see what they got.

  3. I loved all the teachers that pulled me aside for special comments, to recommend a book or a way that I could do a little extra with the classroom material if it was a subject I really liked. It always made me feel special and want to work harder!

  4. My favorite teacher was my Mom. :) I was homeschooled for several years and was never very close to any of my teachers while I was in public or private school. I will tell you my husband's favorite teacher since you are looking for something more like that. ;) It was his Spanish teacher. They were only allowed to speak Spanish in class and were all given Spanish versions of their names to refer to each other. They would watch Spanish cartoons and soap operas in class to learn the language. :)

  5. I loved my remedial math teacher-- he was good about making us work on 1-3 problems a night for homework where we had to show our work to prove we really learned something instead of giving us worksheets with dozens of problems that we would just stumble through. He treated us like adults and didn't bug us to no end if we chose not to do the homework, just gave us the grade that went with it. Thank you for listening, and for the giveaway! Have a great day!

  54. My fav teacher was my 7th grade english teacher. I liked her because I was extremely introverted, but she didn't just ignore me--she spoke to me like everyone else, and took the time to get to know me--introverts, I think, often WANT to be a part of the discussion, and WANT to participate--they just don't know how--it takes such patience and wisdom on a teacher's part to not interpret shyness as indifference or perhaps stupidity.

  104. Hello from Minnesota! I was lucky to have many good teachers so I have a few favorites. One was my fifth grade math teacher who wore crazy Friday ties and would pick me up and hang me upside down when we came in from recess because I was so little. (This sounds awful except I loved it.)

    ReplyDelete
  105. My favorite teacher was Mrs. T. She taught Distributive Education and business classes in high school. Everyone loved her. She was very motherly and cared about us all. And Mrs. Womack. Jr year AP English. She inspired me. She stretched me. She made me.... better.

  110. I was fortunate in that most of my teachers were really wonderful, so it is very hard to choose one. Mrs. Gaines really stands out, though, as one who went the extra mile to inspire us to be curious, and to always strive to improve. 115. Wahoo! I love Modern Workshop!
I think my favorite teachers were the ones who made a special effort to bring me out of my shell. I was pretty shy and I think I might have fallen between the cracks more often than not. To tell the truth - my two favorite teachers were the two who convinced me to be part of their extra curricular program (sort of like a "gifted" program, but not necessarily). I was really forced to step outside of my bubble then and it helped me become more confident in myself.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Mr. Payne. I know. But he was my high school art teacher. He didn't take any crap ('scuse me, but there's no other word for it) from anybody. He kept a can covered with eyes cut out from magazines and if you said, "But I can't" in his room, you had to sit with the "Eye can" in front of you all period! He really made me think...and try!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Mr. Ventrillo, my elementary school art teacher. He really loved what he did (even though we kids tried his patience--hence "the carpet" where we'd have to sit by ourselves if we misbehaved). He had early morning art classes (Early Bird Art) that was by invite only. I'll never forget how excited I was to be chosen (even though I had spent more than my fair share of time on "the carpet" for talking during class).

  123. I have a couple favorites--at different levels in my schooling. First was my first grade teacher--and the one that inspired me to be a k-1 teacher. First, I remember her long blonde hair, but then I also remember her kind manner and the awesome centers she had in her classroom. I loved going to her class!

My other two favorites both happened to be my band teachers, one in middle school and the other in high school. Both believed in me and cheered me on through a very difficult school career. (I had some nasty kids in my class!) My Middle school teacher took me from a mediocre clarinet player and transformed me into a pretty good oboe player! Both were great listeners and encouragers.

I tried to take something from all of them and made sure to use it in my classroom. I didn't want any children to feel the way I did going through school.

  137. My comment didn't post .... My favorite teacher was Mrs. Mills - had her for 3.5 years as elementary teacher. She was 4 feet 2 inches tall and a ball of energy. Mrs. Mills was intent that her rural students would learn though how she managed to be principal of a two room school, and teach 3 grades in one room, beats me. Plus, she taught all my siblings. She was an amazing woman.

  140. I've had so many wonderful teachers. First, let me say I admire anyone who teaches. Some of the best teachers I have ever had were great because they were passionate about their subject and they talked to me like I was a person. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

She was wonderful and my self esteem improved because of her. I was a bit of a geeky not too good looking 6th grade girl when I had her and she changed my life. THANKS! Have a great day.
